Tan Uyen is known as one of the districts located in the east of Lai Chau province with the east of Sapa town of Lao Cai, the west of Sin Ho district, the south is Than Uyen district, the north is Tam Duong district. The district covers an area of over 900 square kilometers, where there are 9 different ethnic groups living such as: Thai, Kinh, H'Mong, Dao, Lao, Giay, Tay, Kho Mu and Laha. More than half are Thai people.

To get to Tan Uyen, you have to drive through small, long pass roads that wrap around the mountain. Exploring the life of the people and admiring the impressive pass roads is one of the interesting experiences of visitors when coming here.
