Heaven's Gate

Heaven Gate, also known as O Quy Ho Pass or Hoang Lien Son Pass, cuts across the Hoang Lien Son range, connecting the two provinces of Lao Cai and Lai Chau, is one of the long, dangerous but extremely majestic passes. and is a beautiful natural landscape in Vietnam.

To get to Heaven Gate, you can go from two sides: one from Tam Duong, Lai Chau province, the other from Sapa, Lao Cai province. Either way, this pass also "hearts" visitors. The road is winding, many times visitors have to lean close to the cliff to avoid cars going downhill at high speed. The mountains are towering with interlaced tree roots, on the other side are the precarious talu ranges in the deep valleys. Clouds cover the mountains or in the valleys, making guests feel like they are floating in the sea of clouds.

O Quy Ho Pass has an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level, 2/3 of the pass is in Lai Chau province and the remaining 1/3 is in Lao Cai province. In recent years, this landscape has become more and more famous, has become a destination not to be missed when traveling to the northern provinces.

To overcome the long distance of more than 50 km to the top of the pass - the location of Heaven's Gate is not simple. Although the distance is not long, it is extremely climbing and dangerous. The higher it goes, the more zigzag it looks like challenging the drivers who are used to the smooth paved plains. Along with that, the fog here is dense all year round. On rainy or cold days, visibility is only a few meters away. The car only dares to "crawl" slowly, sticking close to the cliff to ensure safety. Fortunately, this pass road has now been paved and widened to make traveling more convenient and less dangerous. At the end of 2012, the prestigious international electronic information network Globalgrashopper voted O Quy Ho Pass - one of the ten most beautiful landscapes in Vietnam.

But no matter how hard the road is, when arriving at Heaven's Gate, visitors also feel it is worth the effort. From this position, visitors can have a panoramic view of the vast valley below with green fields, the road up and down Phong Tho (Lai Chau) - Sapa (Lao Cai), far away is the waterfall. Silver - one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in Lao Cai, always sought by young people to discover. About 200m high, Silver Waterfall is rushing day and night as if contributing to the sound of the mountains and forests. Or simply standing just to see the endless and spacious space ahead. The immense green color of the trees, the yellow color of ripe rice intermingled with patches of young green rice to the warm brown color of the soil. And then it was soothed by the wind from Hoang Lien Son mountain. Only standing at this Heaven Gate can you feel the arrogance of Fansipan peak (Fanxipan) with the back of the sky. Below are the deep abysses, with the primeval forest containing many unexplored mysteries.

Up to Heaven's Gate, you can truly feel all the natural beauty of the Northwest, only to know why the terraced fields of Sapa were voted as one of the seven beautiful terraced fields by Travel and Leisure magazine of the US. Asia and the world; The more I understand why the images of villages in Lai Chau often appear in international travel magazines and are more proud of the homeland of Vietnam.
