Lai Chau Tien Son cave, also known as Dan Don cave, Po Ngan Tung or Da Trang cave, was placed by the Lu ethnic people living nearby since ancient times. The reason the cave has such a name is because when people pass through here, they discover that there is a very special white cliff in front of the cave entrance.

The cave complex is located in Binh Lu commune, Tam Duong district, Lai Chau province. Tien Son cave is about 4km from Tam Duong town and about 50km from Sapa. The cave is also located right next to the National Highway 4D, so it is very easy for you to move here.

Lai Chau Tien Son Cave was formed from a type of limestone called carxto millions of years ago.

And if you stand from the cave with your eyes far away, you can still see a glimpse of the majestic Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Fansipan peak hidden in the clouds, or a very beautiful mountain scenery. In particular, this place is also associated with the legend of 99 mountains and 99 clear blue lakes of the Lu people.

According to legend, those 99 majestic mountains are the symbol of 99 strong and healthy boys, while 99 blue lakes are the image of 99 hardworking and beautiful girls. Those mountains and lakes follow each other to create a "wall" embracing a rich and fertile land. That is the land you are coming to - Tien Son cave.

To get to the cave, you have to go through a long way through the mountains like upside down bowls. The reason that many people still call this place "a place of fairyland" is because the scenery here has a harmony between mountains, rivers, streams, birds, ... creating a beautiful natural picture. .

In 1996, Tien Son Lai Chau cave was recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a national historical and cultural relic.

The cave has up to 36 consecutive compartments running between two extremely interesting mountain slopes. Each of these different caves is named by people around the region after many sacred characters such as Mau Au Co, Lac Long Quan, Ba Chua Kho, etc. When visiting each palace, you will admire the beauties. with lots of interesting things. The deeper into the cave, the larger the cavity, the more airy the space becomes.

 Inside the cave are countless stalactites with different shapes. These stalactites, when the light shines on, create blocks of beautiful colors, making the space in the cave become more fanciful. In particular, inside the cave, there is a stream flowing through winding. Therefore, when you come here, you will immediately feel the coolness in the cave, especially in the summer you will notice this obvious difference.

Along with that, the murmuring sound when you pass by is also very pleasant or the sound of water drops falling from the stone arch on the ceiling down to the stalactites below forming extremely interesting shapes. taste. Compared with many other caves, Tien Son Lai Chau cave still retains the original wild and natural features. Tien Son Cave Festival is considered as one of the festivals not to be missed when coming to Lai Chau. This festival is held on the full moon day of the first lunar month (ie the 15th day of the first lunar month). The festival is a common cultural activity of many different ethnic groups such as Kinh, Thai, Giay, and Lu.
